Preventative Maintenance

Why it is important: Preventative Maintenance operates like a normal checkup for your vehicle. It may catch problems prior to the issues requiring significant repair work. Doing preventative maintenance will extend the life of your vehicle and keep it performing optimally for many years ahead. Each automobile has specific maintenance needs, so refer to the owner's manual to learn more about your specific car, truck or SUV.

Most preventative maintenance is done at routine intervals that depend on your driving conditions and driving frequency along with vehicle make, style and year. The schedule for your vehicle is typically located in the owner's manual and usually includes maintenance checks at the following times:

  • Every 30,000 miles until your vehicle reaches 75,000 total miles driven
  • After 75,000 miles, take your automobile in yearly
  • Seasonally for A/C and Heater maintenance
  • Bi-annually to inspect and rotate tires
  • Oil and fluid changes need to be done every 3,000-5,000 miles
  • Preventative maintenance may usually include any of the following measures:

  • Examine and replace/flush the engine fluids: Oil, Brake Fluid, Power Steering Fluid, Windshield Washer Fluid, Transmission Fluid, Antifreeze, Coolant
  • Examine and/or change filters: Air Filter, Oil Filter, Gas Filter
  • Tire balancing and rotation
  • Wheel alignment
  • Examine all lights
  • Examine wiper blades
  • Examine tires for wear and check air pressure
  • Inspect and/or change brake pads
  • Tighten nuts and bolts
  • Inspect belts and hoses
  • Examine for leaks or deterioration
  • Examine and test the battery
  • Examine HVAC system: Vents, A/C and heating
  • Run engine diagnostics
